I am on day 13 of a 28 day cycle. I just checked and I am completely dry. I am 35, was on bcp for 17 years but came off 3 months ago. I quickly resumed 28 day cycles. If there is no CM does that mean I won't be able to get preg? Does everyone have CM or does it go away with age. Also, even though i have had my three periods at regular intervals since coming off bcp, could i possibly not be ovulating? Do you get your period without resuming ovulation?
Thanks for any advice.

You are most likely ovulating if you are getting a period. It is POSSIBLE to get a period and not ovulate, but this might happen once a year to a women, not regularly. As for CM..... I was worried about the same thing. Some days when I thought I should find a lot, I found none, or it was sticky. It never looked quite like they described it should look. I was worried I wasn't producing enough as well. During all this worry, I DID turn up pregnant. (although I miscarried 10 weeks later :( But the point is, even if you don't always see the mucus, it is most likely there. (are you sticking your finger all the way up there and scraping the sides?) Good luck, keep the faith.

As yot get older your cm decreases. The CM is needed to maintain the life of the sperm, otherwise the sperm dies within hours due to the acidity of the vagina. They have something called pre-seed, which is a lubricant that mimicks CM and has been very useful for many women.

After 3 months off the pill and regular periods, you are probably ovulating. You can chart your temperatures to be sure though. Temps go up quite a bit after you ovulate, so it's really the only way to know for sure. I also went off the pill 3 months ago, and use OPK's to give me an idea of when I am ovulating, and then chart my temps to be sure that I did. Good luck.

You should try taking over the counter ovulation Tests to help you determine if your ovulating. My doctor did tell me though that even though you have your period you don't always ovulate. SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!! If you have one and they aren't answering your questions, SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR!!! I left my previous doctor who was an idiot and I am now seeing this wonderful doctor who explained things like, "you don't always ovulate". She also said that if after 6 months of trying to get pregnant and if nothing happens she has test to run to help me determine what could be wrong. (P.S. I have had 1 child, 8 years ago.)
