Is there a psychological reason for it?

"Daddy" is an endearing term for "father". A father is an AUTHORITY figure. It psychologically elevates and increases the DOMINANCE of the male or the male behavior model when that term is being used.

What is the role of father in a family? father is considered the guardian, protector, provider and head of the family. so men and women who like to use the term 'daddy' for their partners are implying (or role-playing) that their partner is tough, strong and superior. Those men and women are expressing the most basic human nature. Pretending to Protect or feel Protected. Sometimes one just plays along with their partner to make him/her happy. sometimes they say it because of real childhood issues or insecurities. i know some girls who call their partners daddy and actually respect them just as a little gal wud respect her dad. personally, i think its really gross. but who cares. there r all kinds of weird bonds between people.

For straight men, it would masculinize them when they are in sexual intercourse. For straight women it means that they submit them self to the act of sexual intercourse.
For gay men, it could be both or even fantasies that they have, the same might be true to lesbians.
I guess that's how it works.

Probably, I think its because someone coined the phrase and most things you see in the movies use that phrase so they use it.
Other than that, when you think about it, it does seem disturbing.
