Probably not that bad, but you face many problems: on old motors, many times the bolts are 'frozen' in place. OMC has been taken over by Bombadier, and you may have a problem getting parts on an 'antique' motor. I only say this because I also have a 78 Johnson 115hp. A mechanic told me once that they don't work on OB motors that are over 10 yrs old. Time to give up the ghost on this one and look for a replacement.

Depends if it's saltwater used the age of it don't bother most bolts break off if don't come apart.I won't buy it if it free than try taking it apart.

depending on if you know anything about mechanics or not , relatively easy .. i suggest getting the book from www.sea-waymarine.com and there you can get all the info you need

Not very hard if you know how. They have manuals,and if you have the tools. Your`e all set.
