when i move it across the screen it behaves erratically.

I have tried downloading the most recent driver from the dell website but still freezes up.

Any suggestions? x

maybe you accidentally played with the touch options or maybe you have fat fingers :)

Make sure you're not resting another finger or the thumb of your other hand on the touchpad. You'd be surprised how many people do this without realising and then panic thinking their touchpad is broken.

Try looking in the mouse settings in Control Panel, make sure there's nothing untoward in there.

If all else fails, just get a cheap USB mouse, they are better and more accurate than touchpads, especially when editing images/video etc.

Check your warrenty. My Dell's DVD writer stopped working right after my warrenty expired. My touch pad also has the same problem.

try a cheap USB mouse they are grate but first try switching off the computer for a while it mite give the driver time to "setle" as it were (ok so i know that is not the thecnical term)
