In all honest it depends on exactly what animals you want to focus on. For example if you want to work with aquatics you would want to focus on Marine Bio rather than Zoology.

Many colleges are also changing their course studies with animals. There are much more that are offering behavior based courses as well as conservation. What you will want to do is pick a few collegs you are looking at and look into the courses they offer as well as the majors. A zoology degree is pointless if the courses are not along the lines of what you want to do (one of the reasons I changed universities when I was in college).

In this day and age it really does not matter what your degree is in as long as you have one. Where college comes more into play is with your masters program as well as work experience. Do not get me wrong though, you will still want something zoology, bio, natural resources, etc based.

Still the best advice I can give you is look beyond the major. Look at the types of classes that the major includes. That alone will direct you towards the major that is right for you.

Obviously your interested in Biology. I'm not sure how many colleges actually offer zoology.

You would probably want to major in zoology, biology, or wildlife management/conservation.
