I'm Japanese who's been living abroad for more than 12 years. I've been proposed by my bf I met in UK last week, and though I'm happy, I'm very worried by how he works as a contract worker.
In my country, contract workers recieve the same or less amount than full time workers, hoping to become one themselves. I heard contract workers in UK earn more, but is 450 daily usual, or low? Is it enough to have kids and have familly in future?
I don't know anything about earning in UK, and if I'll move, I have to find a job myself but I'm doubting I can get a job that will cover the rents...
Also I'm worried about the class system in UK. He is definately in the working class, where I think I'm in middle...from what I'm guessing from the lifestyle differences.
I know I love him, I'm just worried about the future realisticly.

I personaly think he's doing well in my Japanese yen and US dollers mind, but London is the most expensive place to live... and I wasn't sure if this was the case for the Londoners as well.

I am astonished at the poor quality answers!!! No offence meant of course. £450 a day is ok. Actually I charge £400 per day (not IT but engineering in general). But I am not getting £400 every day! And I have rent, telephone, internet, heating, lighting, literature, postage, advertisng etc etc. So I am not living on £450. Thats what the business earns not me. (And by the way is about $2 = £1 whoever said that its $1.50). And also for every 1 hour i work tehre are 1-2 more for sales and admin.

what number days he works interior a given month? would he have the capacity to resume the settlement? in case you multiply 450 * twenty working days that's 9000 united kingdom pounds. that's a great number of funds asuming he works for a minimal of twenty days in keeping with month.

If you stated right, thats about $3375 American dollars a week. (assuming he doesn't work weekends).

If you cant live with kids on $175,000 a year, you're in trouble.

Note: This is under the assumption of your 450 pounds PER DAY and giving the value of 1 pound = $1.50 US Dollars

It's about the middle. Remember that you have to find accomodation and food out of that rate. Tax is another issue. But to answer your question it is normal.
I'm assuming it's GBP you're talking about.
