I no longer have to douche as I have had a hysterectomy, but I did douche after every cycle I had for many years and never had any type of infections. It helps to clean out the uterine cavity of retained blood from the menstrual cycle. It is a matter of choice, but it does give you a sense of feeling clean.

Funny story...
I went to the doctor because I was having horrible cramps and really nasty green discharge down there. I used to douche after EVERY period. Apparently I had cleaned myself too much and gotten an infection.
I was told that your body cleans it out naturally and you don't any help. I was also told that when you douche, some of the soap gets left up there and can be irritating.
She said if I really feel like I need to clean, use a vagisil wipe because it's made especially with milder ingredients for down there.

It depends. I've known women who swear by "the douche" and others say steer clear of it. In my opinion, bear in mind that I am a man, that like anything else it's moderation. Douching every once in awhile with a very mild water or vinegar and water solution more than likely won't harm your Ph balance. When I say once in awhile I mean like once or twice a year or like 2-3 times over a 4-5 year span of time. With that being said there are other things that you can do to keep that fresh feeling, such as; carrying feminine wipes and using them when you need to, using a mild feminine wash when you bathe, or perhaps putting some mild vinegar in your bath water (5% acidity should be the strongest you put in your water) and maybe if you can bathe more than once a day. I hope this helps.

does it work? hmmmm, depends on what you want to accomplish. IF destroying your pH balance in your vagina and setting yourself up for a yeast infection is what you have in mind, yeah, it works quite well for that. I used to douche all the time for that "spring time fresh feeling". LOL, and could not understand why I kept having those blasted yeast infections, until finally a nurse I knew explained my stupidity to me. Since then, the only time I have douched is when my doctor instructed me to do so prior to surgery. The natural lubricants from your own glands keep the vagina clean, you don't need to douche.

Not a good idea. The vagina is like a self cleaning oven. Do not mess with it. Douching will only make the smell and issues worse.

I do not douch, because it can remove the GOOD bacteria in there and cause you to get yeast infections.

If you ask your gynecologist, he (she) will tell you not to. Douching can cause vaginal infections. If there are ingredients on the box which you cannot pronounce, you should strongly consider not using it.
