Put it in the bank!

Well im a die hard yankee fan and even i think that its a long shot. First of all since their dynasty ended in 2000 the yankees have suffered from inconsistency. When the pitching is off the hitting is there and when the hitting is off the pitching is great. If they can pull it together then they can make the playoffs. As of 2day the yankess are only 7 games out with 70 games left to play. They have won 5 straight so lets see what happens

Do you think Minnesota will?
How about Seattle?
Atlanta or Philadelphia?
What about dem Chicago Cubs?
San Diego, Arizona or Colorado?

All 8 of those teams are closer to being in the playoffs that the Yankees are.

So, everytime I see a 'will the yankees make the playoffs' question, I am going to post who are closer.

Listen, I don't know what the heck you expect.
Most Yankee fans will say yes, cause they truly can't believe a 200 million dollar payroll (that's coming out of their pocket) will not make the playoffs.

Some Yankee fans are more realistic and contend that it's a long shot.

People that don't have some pipe dream with the Yankees will mostly say no, they are still far too crappy of a team.

So, if you already know what the responses will be, why ask the question?

The definitely have an easier schedule that the Sox (now only a 7 game lead in the AL East). The Red Sox are struggling right now, and the Yankees, winning 7 of 10, are moving their way back into the picture. As true Sox fans, that possibility is always in the back of out heads. We never feel safe until we are guarenteed a lock in the playoffs. For now, we have gone 20-23 in the last 43. Getting swept by the Tigers hurt us, but losing a series to KC (after taking game 1 of 3) really shows the lack of offense in key situations. I'm not saying I think the Sox will lose the top spot in the AL East, but I have to say I get nervous watching this team right now. They came out of the gate on fire, and now they are really hurting. Hopefully we can fix this little problem we're having and get back to our winning ways. We need the bats of Ortiz and Manny to step up, and we need JD Drew to take a lesson from Lugo and Coco on getting his swing back. WMP will be out of Boston ASAP, and we will hopefully bring in a good RH batter or a solid pitcher to help patch our problems. We would like to see another arm that would give us a good playoff rotation like the Tigers have. As of now its Beckett, Dice-K, Schilling (when hes back), and Wakefield or Tavarez. Personally I think we can get a solid 4th pitcher in Lester or Gabbard, but with their age the Sox will not over-expose these two, too much. Look for them to go out and get another arm or a decent bat before July 31st. So to answer your question I guess I'd have to say it is possible, but no I think the Sox will get it together and keep them back far enough; the Wild Card is going to be tough as well with teams like the Tigers, Indians, and Twins all battling for playoff spots.

DEFINITELY! The Yanks are on a run, winning 11 out of their last 14. After being 14 1/2 games behind the Red Sox. It's now 7! The Sox are going to choke (like they do every year).

LET'S GO YANKEES!

No.

Typically I find these "prediction / future / what will happen" questions uninteresting twaddle, since they ask for nothing but unfounded opinion -- and so can result easily result in nothing more elevated than a screamfest -- but this one keeps coming up regardless that the answer remains No.

I sincerely hope it is being asked only by Yankees fans because if other, normal, people are worrying about this topic, they need professional help.

For Yankees fans is it, of course, shaking the very foundations of their faith, and I understand that hurts. Change can be difficult.

It's possible but they would have to stay hot for the reminder of the season and all the other teams competing for the wildcard spot would have to drop. The Red Sox aren't going to keep playing this bad for long. There just too good a team to totally collapse.

I hope not....but they still have a shot at wildcard race...they can put together a nice winning streak..you never know, but I am not a Yankee fan at all so..

Yes, they will but I'm a diehard Yankee fan. They'll have to play very crisp and error free ball to do it.

Yes.

Win the division? No.
Wild card? Barely.
Win the World Series? LOL.
Then, get to the World Series? Still LOL.
