I agree with everyone that said bad gas, and needed a tune up. Try Premium Gas see if that clears it up.

Most cars will ping a little when going uphill because of sudden change in load of uphill driving, and the computer will not be able to suddenly adjust air, fuel and ignition condition.
If it is pinging all the time, check to see if your car's maintenance are up to date, special the spark plugs, air and fuel filter.
If it is still pinging, you can find out if any shops that do carbon cleaning of the fuel system and engine, or you can buy a couple bottle of fuel system cleaner from auto parts store and run it for couple of weeks to see if it works.
Lastly, if nothing else works, I think you need to upgrade to the next octane level of gas.
Good Luck.

My answer would be the fuel, after using the 87 fuel for such a long time you may need to step it up a bit to the 91. Put the 91 for a couple of months then work your way down to the 87. As soon as you fill your tank up with 91 the pinging noise will go away.

pinging is pre ignition not delayed ignition
causes bad fuel or old fuel ,,timing advanced ,,bad plug (cracked porcilin),,,vacume leak,,pluged injector(lean condition) or hot spot on a piston caused by carbon build up
the fix reccomend plug replacement (never hurts)
fuel injection cleaner ( i make a mix that works great 1 quart auto trans fluid ,,1 can carb cleaner spray type ,,and 1 can sea foam put all in the fuel tank with 8 to 12 galons fuel , drive car will notice improvement 50 t0 100 miles
listen for hiss find the vacume leak
did you just fill up you may have got bad fuel or a bad mix (to much methonol) you get that if you fill up in the morning or just after the truck filled the tank ( fill up in the afternoon or the day after you see the truck fill the tank)
good luck

The pinging is due to delayed combustion. Timing and octane also affect this. To continue driving with excessive ping, will cause engine damage.

Pinging or additionally observed as detonation in spark-ignition inner combustion engines occurs whilst combustion of the air/gasoline combination in the cylinder starts off wisely in accordance with ignition by making use of the spark plug, yet a variety of of wallet of air/gasoline combination explode exterior the envelope of the traditional combustion front. you are going to be waiting to do away with the noise by making use of making use of the subsequent maximum grade of gas. enable's say you generally use 87 octane gas. attempt making use of 89, ninety one or ninety 3 octane and spot if it is going away.

Well bad gas is the first place to look. Then check and make sure the engine isnt running hot. Then the state of the engine, i.e. tune up.
