Take some time to research countries where the punishment fits the crime. An eye for an eye type of situation. Let's look and see what their crime rates are. I am SICK AND TIRED of my tax dollars paying for people who do not want to contribute to our society. I am tired of paying for these criminals and abusers of the welfare system to live when I could use that money to help pay the $900 a month I pay for child care for my two children! They get fed 3 meals a day have clothes provided for them and other oppurtunities. I run around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to make ends meet. If they are guilty then why waist the time and money! I work with handi-cap people in our state they keep loosing their funding when they must be cared for. Screw the people who can't help themselves and let's dish out more food stamps to the crack head who is selling them for more crack! The system is screwed up! Let's start drug testing the welfare recipients!!!!!!!!!

I'm not so sure that the threat of execution doesn't stop crime. Whenever the crime stats go down, some politician jump in and takes credit for it. So capital punishment may reduce crime, but we'll never know for sure.
Where capital punishment does help out is when the police are interrogating a suspect. A perp is far more likely to cooperate, and give up his partners in crime when facing the death penalty, as opposed to prison.

It was voted on and pass by state & federal government.
Yes it does stop crime I have yet to hear after a person was excuted being charge with another crime.
America has no problem with execution either in the womb or when they are adults. Each side call the other side wrong.

I'm for abolishing the death penalty just from a fiscal standpoint. It costs 4x as much to keep someone on death row than it does to keep them in regular prison and it takes around 15 yrs to execute someone, well after the public has forgotten about the crime. It also clogs up our court system with appeals and such. I would be in favor or abolishing the death penalty because of that.
so as long as they dont live another 60 years you got less cost? until theres 400000 more prisoners who shouldve died and theres another 10-20 prisons being ran just for them

Easiest way to answer this is with a question...
Do you know the meaning of over populated for Mother Earth?
As far as scientist said in their research that we are not suppose to have more then a couple of billion people on Earth only. And with population growing Mother Earth is suffering from all of these global warming and other crisis. So, the lesser population we have means that we are doing good for Mother Earth. So for these criminals being executed and becoming our fertilizers in the fields for our plants and vegetations is a good thing...So, OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!! please!!!
This way our living cost would be reduced in the future.

Its cheaper, not like over here in the UK where you see the same dude before the court about 60 times, then we are taxed to pay for this looser. Hang em high the only cost is the rope. We should be allowed to bear arms on your own property to, then when these loosers come on your property to steal from you or rape your wife you can shoot em in the head, that way you dont need to call the Police you can ring the coroner direct. Instant justice, justice delayed is justice denyed.

It should be abolished.
It is more expensive than life imprisonment
http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/article.php?scid=45&did=385
States and countries with the death penalty have a higher murder rate than states and countries that don't have it.
http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/php/article.php?scid=12&did=168
Also, the death penalty is just revenge and is therefore non-Christian.
How can we kill people who kill to show killing is wrong. That is hypocritical.

i agree....i think the death penalty is too easy for some crimes.....take scott peterson for instance...it will be years before he is even executed. and you are right....crimes are continually committed....are penalty system is broken, along with most other things
