Take it to the bank and ask them to swipe it with the yellow marker used to determine if the bill is real or fake. You can also ask a clerk at a local store to do the same. Just don't try to purchase something with it before verifying.

Hard to say from your description. If you have to hold it up to the light to see Ben, it sounds like the stains cover a lot more than the top and bottom. Is there any way to see the embedded strip when you hold it up to the light?
Honestly, if you have questions about the bill being counterfit, you shouldn't have accepted it in the first place.

If it is fake and you didn't make it in your garage, you have nothing to worry about. It is not against the law to get stuck with funny money, it is just bad luck. If you take it to a bank, they can put it through a little phony money detector, if it is counterfeit, the will confiscate it and give you a receipt for it, I think it is tax deductible, but you do not get it back! By the way, rest assured if you show up with another one, get ready for some hot lights!

It is real (most likley) a lot of money has the red at top or bottom or both. I wouldnt worry about it. If you are take it to the bank and get smaller bills. They will do that for you.

I'd take it to a bank and if its real trade it for a new one just to be sure. If its not they'll ask you some questions but probally will not think you yourself did it.

if you can see franklin and it has the security strip, you are fine, there are also tiny "100"s all over the bill.
