I think there is a bug in the new ipod shuffle. The exact same thing happened to me. I left it plugged into the little dock for 2 days and it started to work again. There is an adapter you can buy to make the dock plug into the wall, I've heard that gives a longer life to the battery.

Once you have disconnected your ipod from the computer, it is considered turned on. Yo turn it off, you hold down the pause button for a few seconds until the power button turns off. It's important to set your ipod on hold because if it bumps into something, it can turn back on. Make sure to set your ipod on hold, because that may have caused your ipod to lose all of its energy.

faulty battery ("memory" is messed up or depleted within the battery)

Could be the charger itself, check connections

sure it wasn't on by accident? make sure the off switch is used. if headphones are plugged in and the switch is on, it's easy to have it on by accident.

good luck. i have no probs at all with my shuffle2. i love it!
