My question to you is: Why aren't we hearing from Twin's fans today? Or Red Sox fan? Or Angel fans? Or Indian fans?

Matin S - You said it brother! I wouldn't mind seeing the Cubbie and the Tigers in the Fall Classic! Then they wouldn't be able to avoid writing about us!

Brettj666 - you can't use words like petty and immature and then say that you are leaving in peace. You have to admit that the Tigers aren't getting the respect that they deserve. Best record in baseball, beat the Indians 2 or 3, swept the Red Sox, split with a tough Mariners team on the road, and won this series on the road against the Twins, but still, some of the major power rankings STILL have the Red Sox #1 and have the Tigers as low as third.

Frizzer - Well said! I think that the Sox will hold off the Yanks, but you never know. They have blown bigger leads later in the season. Yes, the Tigers blew the division lead last year, but still made the playoffs. If the Sox blow the division lead, they aren't making the playoffs.

Tony - fans are NOT the same all over the world. Well, I guess they are, but all fans are not the same. There are fans whose favorite team changes everytime they check the standings in the paper. Others of us stick with our team even when they lose well over 100 games in a season.

Georgie - as a true Tiger fan, I appreciate you opinions. Yes, the Twins and the Indians will be there all year and I would never count either of them out. I am actually more worried about the Twins than the Indians. I am not sure the that Indians have the pitching to hang in there all year. The Twins will NOT go away.
The Sox WILL be tought in the playoffs, IF they make it. I am not sure that they will, though I think they will hold on.
Yes, it is only a two game lead, but the Tigers play against top notch opponents lately is very encouraging. They have played the toughest schedule thus far this season, while the Sox easy schedule since the All-Star break (and it doesn't get any tougher for a while) hasn't helped them at all.
Yes, a two game lead is nothing to get cocky about, and I will have sweaty palms until I see the big X next to their name in the standings, but it's encouraging that they have gotten here by beating the best teams in the league.

Simba - I was just having fun. If you look at my comments to Georgie, the Twins are the teams that I think is the biggest threat to Detroit. Should be a great 3 way battle all summer.

These are links to the Power Rankings that I know of. (Anyone know of any others?) The SI, Fox Sports, and CBS Sportsline polls all have Detroit and Boston #1 and 2 respectively. BUT, USA Today actually has Boston #1 while the Philadelphia Power Poll has the Sox #1, the Angels #2, and the Tigers #3. They actually dropped the Tigers from #1 a week ago, to number 3 this week. What did the Sox do to deserve climbing, besides losing to bad teams? What did the Tigers do to deserve falling? They beat several of the best teams in the AL!

I happen to be a Cubs fan, but I think it is funny that when you have the Tigers destroying the BoSox and Twins, you dont hear ANYTHING about it. But when the Yankees sneeze, well, thats all over the News. The Cubs have been hotter that the sun lately and its like they dont exist. I guess when you dont win a world series in a long time, it doesnt matter how good your doing at the moment because your prejudged. But when our teams are doing bad they make sure to cover that, right?

As a Tigers fan who grew up in Detroit and lives in Twin's country, I can tell you, they aren't being quiet IRL. They have a deep tough team, but need some starting pitching help. Despite the two wins, the Twins have actually seen something encouraging the last two nights, particularly Garza pitching a fantastic game.
As to the others, Indians fans have stayed vocal even while their team was having a horrible year last year. Cleveland fans are the most loyal in the AL... I don't think there is such a thing as a real Angels fan, and the Boston fans are all too busy wretching with nervousness because they've seen this script once or twice before.
That said, Boston is going to be a tough kill in a five game series with that starting and closing pitching, if they can get there... and either the Indians or the Twins (or both) are going to make the playoffs, and neither team is an easy out. Its very nice after years of misery to be able to crow about the Tigers, but there's a lot of baseball to be played yet.

Twins fan are here, and always will be. It was a good couple of games where our offense hit a road bump. Should I remind you though, that the only day that really matters it the last day of the season?
EDIT-
Sarge, I knew you were just having fun. That's why I posted. If I thought you were being disrespectful I wouldn't have wasted my time. We have a great division and it's all about who can stay strong the longest.
Blake P- Your talking big after what happen last year. Or are you just jumping on the bandwagon and weren't around for last year to see how the season ended? Let me quickly remind you, the Twins came from further back then we are now to win the division on the last day! All the other Tigers fans remember, and they're not ordering the celebration wine yet.

You already know the answer to your question, don't you? The Tigers have just beaten the Twins two in a row and have won 8 of their last 10 games, The Red Sox have won 3 of their last 10 games, and both the Indians and Angles have won 4 of their last 10 games. The casual fan doesn't like to talk about their team when they are losing, simple as that. By the way Red Sox fans, "Don't look over your shoulder, someone might be gaining on you" Satchel Paige

I would imagine that they are devising secret weapons to devour our pitching staff. All of which is certainly possible.
angel fans? who are they???
I would NOT discount The Twins just yet, my friend. They have a way of coming back and biting us in the rear. And we ALL know Cleveland has a very good team. Boston is going to tough in the play-offs, so I would not mess with that either.
I, for one, am NOT going to get all cocky and arrogant over a 2 game lead (granted, it is our biggest lead of the season thus far over Cleveland). Cleveland has shown us before that they are a good team, and I can assure you they will not quit.
I'll wait until The Tigers have a 2 game lead with 1 game left to play before I start celebrating. In the meantime, I am simply enjoying the games and the season.
Bonderman gets the start today, and if he is onhis "A" game we should win...but you have to remember Cleveland starts a 4 game series with Texas today...and I see Cleveland taking all four. While starting this weekend we play KC, and KC has a way of being the spoilers. So, come Monday we could very well be tied for 1st place.
2 games is nothing to sneeze at.
In case you forgot, The Tigers had a 10 game lead last year as deep as August 7th, and they ended up losing the division on the last day of the season. *credit is due to ~simba~ for reminding me I wanted to say that*
So, I'd wait until we have the division sealed and delivered before I started celebrating. Thank you.

Yes the fans you've mentioned are down at the moment. But when they start winning again they'll be back. We Tiger fans, unfortunately are the same. Where were we a few years ago when they were losing 100 plus?
Bottom line - the fans are the same all over the world. You love your team win or lose....as it should be. And NEVER give the other guy any credit because they're wearing the wrong jersey!

Maybe it's because the Detroit Tigers are winning more than they are losing? I am a true Tiger fan. Always have been, always will be. Born and raised in MI. but live in FL. now. Tigers will not go quietly.

Look here I am right here. As you said, you have to stay loyal to my team, which I have through all of the rebuilding years. The reason you wouldn't be hearing from many of them today would be because they lost. It goes for every team, including Tigers.
