WIth the amount of mud being thrown in both directions, by the end of it most people don't want a political representative at all... I'm a firm believer that more people would vote if there were less negative advertising and more information on the political views of each candidate (no TV ads, no negative speeches... Just informative packets to those who are undecided as to which candidate they want to vote for).

Quote from an earlier post:
"Because voting is pointless. Our votes do not count, the only thing we really have a say in is small, local government"
That was the original intent of the founding fathers. But, because most of us have been asleep at the switch, we allow the Federal government to stick their noses in things they were never supposed to be. Most people don't know we(the USA) chugged along just fine, for 137 years WITHOUT A FEDERAL INCOME TAX. But, just like in voting, we are content to let someone else do the heavy lifting for us, and then wonder what happened to our rights, after the fact.

Because people know that the electronic voting is already decided (no paper trail so there is no way to recount the votes and it has been proven by Princeton that it can very easily be hacked and changed without anyone knowing about it because of lack of receipt.)
Places that don't have the electronic voting, people don't see a good choice, so they don't vote because what use would it be? Both parties don't listen to the voters, so what does it matter? They only listen to businesses lobbyists who give them major kickbacks for voting a certain way...something that most Americans can't afford!

No. Obama won the two the popular vote and the electoral vote. those maps could be deceptive, via fact mutually as they'd instruct extensive swaths of "purple" counties, this is significant to remember that inhabitants density isn't uniform for the period of all of u . s . a . of america. a great form of those counties that went to McCain had lots fewer human beings (some had just some hundred) than, say, Brooklyn, which went overwhelmingly to Obama.

I for one feel If the elections were more honest more people will vote. I haven't the foggiest notion why tuessday is vote day. Tuesdays are just as good as any day.

They would have to turn off their TV's and waddle their fat azzes to their SUV's and drive all the way down to a polling place. Stand in line, and then not even know whether or not their vote made any difference due to the refusal of Americans to demand a verifiable paper trail from voting machines.
Not to mention the pathetic performance of politicians on all sides of the political spectrum.
They have wasted our time and money for too long. Vote out all of the incumbents - it's time to start over. We need to demand accountability from our so called 'leaders'.

I don't know what country you are in, but here in the US, the voting rate is usually pretty low. The reason seems to be that we only have 2 parties, and both have been bought by special interests. Very often these parties are not different in their actions, so many people don't see a reason to vote.

People don't vote for many reasons. We should have voting day on Sunday, rather than Tuesday.

most people only vote when they are fed up with who is in office and don't vote when things are going their way, that is why the Rep lost the majority.
