Considering that our human population now numbers well over 6 billion, it is very unlikely that any single event could arise that could kill us all. If anything too severe were to arise then natural selection would be reinvigorated into our survival to find those with the genes that can persevere through that event. You can already see this in the African truckstop case studies where some prostitutes seem to be immune to HIV presumably because their white blood cells do not present themselves as the right target for the virus, much like sickle cell red blood cells do not present themselves as a good target for Malaria. Even if UV was to increase to ridiculous levels from human caused atmospheric deterioration most people would probably still survive long enough to produce a couple children before their 30 year old eyeballs became full of cataracts and they entered into advanced stages of cancer. A few generations of this and natural selection will again be chopping at the bit to find genes that would express a resistance to this environmental pressure. If our climate ran out of control in either direction and the food supply took a dive then undoubtedly the world would probably have a massive war fighting over food resources until we killed of so many of our own that an equilibrium was once again established at an appropriate global carrying capacity. To summarize, I think that humans have the ability to really mess up our shared planet in much less then 1000 years, but I think that it will be really hard for us to actually cause our own extinction... We're just to darn adaptible and our gene pool is just too massive at 6 billion+ individuals!

Unless the nuke age is heralded in with finality, I would say "yes" the human race will continue another 1000 yrs. I know it will not be in the manner most people think, though. If "truth" were known by sheeple the world we live in would be so very different and very much a paradise. Can you picture it? People actually living happy, motivated and spiritually sound, healthy lives? The ability to use zero point energy has been used and around for centuries. People live in a stone age way when the technology that is available and indeed has been available for centuries is kept from the people. If you ask why, the answer is simple: control, basic control.

human beings as a race, sure... yet probably Western civilisation would be long previous, all that capitalism stuff. In 1000 years there is time for relatively some civilisations to upward thrust and fall nevertheless, who knows what the best effect could be like. Barbarians eking out a residing among the ruins, or hyper-technical savants, or what?

Probably. Even in the worst case scenarios of nuclear war or collapse of modern civilization some humans would survive. Our intelligence makes us more adaptable and better survivors than almost any animal. It would be very hard to kill us all off. And of course once we've got populations on some other planets it'll be practically impossible to ever get rid of us all. We're like cockroaches in that respect.
As for whether our civilization will survive, that is less certain, but I'm optimistic. I'd say we have a good chance.

Probably.
I do believe that like all other species that have gone extinct -we will too.
We are not doing much to help ourselves overall. I think that we will kill ourselves off with the spread of disease via the airplane .Perhaps we will eat our self out of existence.
I don't see how we could exist in the same manner that we do at this time . Things are changing so very fast. We may still be around ,but not the same.
Something is bound to happen that will change the number of people and the quality of life. Nothing has ever remained the same -nothing ever will.

Not if we keep going the way we are. There has to be radical changes in order to sustain the population, and we're just asking for something bad to happen.
