I think many people feel it has become redundant and boring, unfortunately. However, it far from irrelevant no matter what people say.

Hate crimes, gay marriage, discrimination, adoption - all issues that still need to be handled in some way. And really, until there are -equal- rights (very key word), there is going to be a need to constantly fight for one's civil rights that would natural to any other citizen.

It has certainly become morally bankrupt.

HRC concerns itself with "straight looking, straight acting" gays and lesbians only. It claims to support all of the LGBT family, but is in fact a longtime enemy of trans rights.

The gay movement is very self centered, and very racist. Everybody is white! Basically, if you are not straight looking, straight acting, white, and fairly well off, the gay rights movement is your enemy.

Being gay is not such a big deal anymore. But to them, it is. Worse, the LGBT people getting hurt the worst are getting the least help from them.

So the movement is useless unless you don't really need it to survive.

That really depends on who and where you are.

Some people have reached comfort zone where gay rights are concerned, because they know and experience who they are with minimal confrontation about it.

But there are still folks that struggle. The boss may not accept your lifestyle. Your family may not be supportive and may be trying to convert you back. You may be religious and not really even support your own biology.

Western society is on the way to being balanced in regard to sexual orientation, but we still see directed violence in the news, so we aren't there yet.
