Because all terrorist enemies of America today are religious extremists and religious extremists are per definition ultra conservative.

The idea of liberal and conservative is very relative. What is conservative in the US would be liberal in the middle east. The terrorists are very conservative but that does not be they can be compared to conservatives here in the US.
