Do uk mobile numbers vary depending on where in the country you bought them?

if the numbers didn't vary you it wouldn't make any difference who you phoned - they would all ring wouldn't they?
in fact you would get a busy tone because one of them would be in use - yours!! lol

seriously though i know what you mean and no they don't
all uk mobiles start with 07 i have noticed that the following numbers tend to be specific to certain operators like orange o2 vodaphone etc

Sort of - they are released in batches by the ISP to their shops etc, so in theory yes.
