i think you mean Ereutophobia or Ereuthophobia,ou Erythrophobia

Eurotophobia is the fear of blushing in public. The face and sometimes the top of the back and the chest blush more or less intensively when the person is in emotionaly uncomfortable situations. Being aware of blushing and trying not to blush makes the situation and the blush even worse.

'Blushes' can occur anytime, and sometime for little or even no reason.

Sometimes, those blushes come from feeling affectionnaly insecure or being afraid of the others point of view.

Also, if no medical treatment or therapies are effective, it leads to think that the "chaine sympatique" influx is hyper active.

How does this illness occur?

We don't really know how the illness occurs, but in most cases one or several relatives have the same problems. Sometimes, it can come from a affective problem in childhood or teenagehood.

What is the percentage of the population with this illness?

Around 10% of the population suffers from this problem, with different degrees.

What can be the consequences?

In most cases, the person who blush easily just accept the fact they do. In more important cases, blushing can be very problematic in the social and profesionnal life. Some person will avoid to go out with their friends or will refuse a job because they are afraid of blushing. Some will even refuse to go out from their home. Ereutophobic people generally say that this phobia turns them to be very shy because other people constantly make comment about the fact they blush. Also they don'l like it because some people think they can read their feelings although blushing can happen for no reason or very slight reason. Some people have committed suicide because of this phobia. That's why it is very important to take it seriously.

I take it you mean GERONTOPHOBIA - the dislike of aged people, and of the phenomenon of aging.

The sight of old people reminds us of the fact of mortality. If you yourself are young, healthy and fit, you may be haunted by the thought of someday decaying into a pitiable creature whose body has stopped working properly, making you an embarrassment to the rest of the population - wrinkled, feeble, slow, deaf, and, to a greater or lesser extent, irritating or disgusting.

Our society, to spare the young and fit as much pain as possible, has tried to put artificial barriers between young and old. That has made the problem worse, as many of the population, at any one time, are then acutely conscious of moving from the 'good' side of the community (able bodied and earning) to the 'bad' (dependent on pensions and charity), as they age.

I don't understand your second sentence; particularly as I don't know if you mean 'physical' or 'psychical', or perhaps some other difficult word derived from Greek.

What's gerothophobia? I tried merriam-webster.com to look it up and even checked the medical dictionary there... I know it's the fear of ???? but I have no idea what you are asking in your question. So I would say people handle this topic with ignorance as they don't know much about gerothophobia. Because I know I don't. :)

Hard to say, considering there's no such word as "gerothophobia".

In the future, you may wish to double-check the spelling, or list the definition in parantheses.

Gerontophobia is the fear of growing old. If this is your topic, you may want to rephrase the question.

And the fear of growing old is different than the fear of growing feeble. People may be able to reduce the risk of growing feeble via diet and exercise.

Which reminds me ... I need to go jog.
