Does it come back up with the "windows has shut down unexspectaly" screen when it's rebooting? Also are the fans in your power supply working fine? Does this happen when the system is cold? I want to say it sounds like heat first. If that is not the case. Then power. when your C drive revs up your power supply cannot support everything at once. Then memory a bad stick may be the culprit.

If your computer is still under warranty, call the manufacturer. Your computer should be able to increase memory space. The computer should do it automatically. . If your computer stops or starts by itself, you may want turn your computer off. Wait ten minutes and then restart. Depending on the age of the computer and don't want to buy a new one, you can upgrade it for much less than buying a new one.

I has a similar problem and called PC Mechanic. He checked my recently update (S/W and H/W). Then replace my RAM and tried. Finally on changing my SMPS (switch-mode power supply) the problem was solved. So the SMPS could be the problem.

Increase your RAM. It is too small for Win XP especially if you have integrated graphics. My Plll w/ 3x128Mb RAM and AGP card runs XP smoothly and does not run out of RAM. Of course it is not used for gaming.

It could be overheating, try using a can of compressed air to blow into the different holes on the back of your pc. TURN IT OFF FIRST!!!

ask a computer technician to re-install your windows but keeping the important data.

ps: some computer technicians may be able to solve the restart pc thing without re-installing the windows.

go to start>right click "my computer">select "properties">choose the "advanced" tab>
select "settings" under "and recovery"> uncheck the "automatically restart" box and make
sure the other two boxes are checked. Instead of automatically restarting, your computer
will give you an error message. This might help you figure out what the problem is.
