My favorite literary author is Stephen King. I have loved his novels since I was in my late teens, and I believe to date my favorite pieces are his 'Dark Tower' series and 'The Stand'. I also enjoy seeing the books turned into film; if they are done properly. Second to King has always been J.R.R. Tolkien, however, as of late I have been very interested in the novels that J.K. Rowling has been writing for her 'Harry Potter' series. I know that it is more of the Children’s genre, but I do believe that her writing style is well suited to be read by everyone.

Ooh, hard one. I think it's a toss-up between Cecelia Dart-Thornton with her Bitterbynde trilogy and Robin McKinley with Rose Daughter, Spindle's End, Sunshine, the Hero and the Crown, and the Blue Sword.
