What`else could it be ?... I think in order to be considered a good commentator /sports caster.. I'll bet it helps the listeners get into the game better mentally if they add a`little dramatization in there voices!! I think that works !! Have you ever listened to a game & heard something said that made you say "AwW"H" Man!?! Or "R"Rrrrr`'u'`nNn !?! lol some are pretty good at capturing emotions !! `'R"r,r`r.'-

Sometimes, I'm sure, it's an affectation. Most often, I suspect, it's honest excitement during a sport they truly love.
