You are way to angry to make any sense. By the way, Guiliani was mayor of New York on 9/11, and, he was a Republican.

In case any of you missed it, Bloomberg was a life long democrat, ran as a republican and is now an independent.

For the record, everyone is far too complacent if you ask me. How many of you even have a plan for your family? If a disaster strikes while mom & dad are at work and kiddies are in daycare or school what is the plan? What if communications are knocked out? Where should your children go? Where will everyone meet if you cannot get to your house?

Do you even know an alternate way to get home from work? We had an ice storm in New Jersey some years ago and they had to close interstate 280. People were stranded on that road for almost 24 hours. How many had any sort of provisions? Most did not even have a receptical to urinate in. No blanket, no food, no water. How many of you are prepared for even a simple problem such as an ice storm?

You're not kidding. The radios have obviously been a continuing problem since Guiliani. Bloomberg is a brilliant businessman, but doesn't know the first thing about running a city. Those firefighters who died in the Black Sunday fire could've survived had they had personal safety ropes that were worth a damn. However, the city doesn't want to spend money on them, and they aren't allowed to buy their own (NFPA standards). Explain that one to me. Not to mention all the pay cuts that the city loves to implement. Where the hell is this money going? Because it sure as hell can't be seen. And masks? Of course we have our SCBA's, but they only last 30 minutes (sitting down in a t-shirt breathing slowly, not carrying 60 pounds of gear running around), but they won't do a damn thing if there were ever a chemical threat. If you die on the job, you get a simple funeral as a thank you, and that's about it. It's a joke.

I think it is just so sad! I would have thought New York would have learnt from 9/11 and equipped their emergency services better. What if it hadn't been a steampipe? These poor unfortunates would have been expected to deal with it. Get real citizens of New York and demand your guardians are equipped with everything they need. You owe them!!!
