Been through the water rationing scenario in Japan, not a pleasant experience. We had 1 day on and two off. We were required to take what is referred to as "Navy Showers" which means you run the water briefly and only to rinse. No watering lawns or washing cars. The worst I have ever experienced was one day on and 4 days off.

I live in the United States in Wyoming. It's usually pretty dry here with not much precipitation which leads to dried up dead grass and low water levels in all of the lakes. Just about the whole time I have lived in Colorado and Wyoming we've had water restrictions. But this year, for some reason, it's been really wet and humid. No water restrictions yet this summer.

I live in northern NSW about 2.5 hours from Brisbane and have no water restrictions. I can wash the car, water the lawn, do what I like with it. Mind you I have more than 10000 gallons of rainwater in tanks and the Clarence River full of water at the bottom of the garden.

I live in Northeast Georgia, and our county is currently under water restrictions. People are being fined for using water when they're not supposed to. We just now are getting some much needed rain!!

I used to live in Cronulla, NSW, but left two years ago.
I now live in Anaheim, California. Though I think we're in a drought over here, I have never heard of water restrictions ever being enforced here.
