I know it is frowned upon, but does anyone know how to get a network key

You'll have to explain a bit. What do you mean by "network key."

If you are asking how to get the WPA2, WPA-PSK, or WEP key so you can access someone's wireless LAN:

You ask, or you are committing a felony. Leeching someone else's bandwidth via their wireless router, yes that's a felony in the USA.

So ask, if they say no, get your own Internet connection and wireless router.

Just in case you're in the UK, the same answer applies as above. If you just take someone's wireless bandwidth without prior approval you will be guilty of theft... and there have been prosecutions in this country.
