yes if you have two slots but you cant control one screen with two cards. the only way you can take advantage of two cards is by having two screens instead of having one sit there collect dust

Yes you can. But you need a SLI (Scable Link Interface) or CrossFire (ATI's version of SLI) to do so. If you use 2 graphics cards you are dramatically (in most cases) increasing graphics performance. But to do so you need a SLI or CrossFire certified motherboard and 2 identical graphic cards. For example: You purchase a Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a SLI certified motherboard with 2 Nvidia 8800 Ultra XXXs. The motherboard would be like this one: EVGA nForce 680i SLI Ready $179.99 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2945261&CatId=2051)
with the two Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra XXXs $749.99 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3143302&CatId=2513)
.YOUR PC WILL BE SCREAMING FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The game probably won't even need the processor! Anywayz that is the only way to do Dual Graphics Cards now-a-days. But this concept was first introduced back in the 3DFX days. Dual PCI cards.

Yes ever since Macs and Linux existed, only now Windows followed suit with special hardware but I had a polygonal extended desktop using:
nVidia TNT2 AGP 1024x768 with a secondary of ATI Mach64 PCI 800x600 on a Mandrake Linux once, for fun of course I am addicted to LCD screens can't use CRTs but I had no $$$ to actually get one more.
I've seen a polygonal Mac desktop in my high school day too.
Both ages ago when Windows were single monitor affair anyway.

that depends on the graphics cards and motherboard
if you have one of the new pci-e motherboards - you can run 2 cards in SLI (single line interface) mode on One Monitor - provided that the cards are both the same and allow this which they generaly do
have a look at some of the top end pci-e graphics cards and motherboards
it is not possible with AGP
try reading this info from Nvidia Website:

if you have two pci voodoo 2 cards you can run them in a sli configuration, but these are only accelerator cards and do not actually allow you to run them as graphics cards in windows...
your second option is to have a look at going with nvidia (sli configuration) or ati (crossfire configuration)...
but if you want to get even more graphics cards into your system them consider nvida and the gx2 cards...these are 2 cards that work in one pci-e slot, so theoretically you can have four gfx cards in one system...

Yes, and you should visit the Alienware website to look at their latest laptop which has two graphics cards installed as standard.
