Pride is when a person thinks that they can do anything and they do not need God or anyone's help. They usually think they are above the others.
Example a person who thinks they are extremely good in football. Because they think they are this good when the team is playing he will most likely not pass the ball because he thinks he can score with or without the team mates. Or someone who thinks they are very beautiful that they put their pride in theirs looks. Like they do not need to learn anything but that their looks example will get them a job.
Another word for pride is concietedness. A person who is conceited or proud will always brag about "how good" they are.

Yes, a very personal one. I am a life long Christian and they always said to me "don't pray for something like patience unless you really want the trials you may go thru to learn it, just like trials in real life as a child to learn". But I prayed to be more humble and less prideful, Oh my. I was born with many talents, God given, but am not an arrogant person, but didn't rely enough on God. I learned now that He is all I have to lean on. He showed me my pride in myself.
