experiences are a learning curve it is possbile to block out a memory if you try hard enough, however most of the memories that are lost are the good ones. why the brain holds on to those bad memories i havent yet figured that out. perhaps its a way of remembering right from wrong or knowing now for the future? actually perhaps you should ask a psychologist.

strong past memories are difficult sometimes, but can be good most of the time. experinces are the things that shape us. what we learn from those experiences makes us wiser and a little smarter for the next steps we take, even the tramatic ones, so i say don't try to forget. try to embrace the moment for what it was and make peace with it. if the memory is a difficult one, then share it with someone you feel good about, somtimes releasing a little pressure can be a good thing. and try to remember, what was isn't always what will be. memories are tied to emotions, control the emotion...control the memory.

Your depression comes from not speaking about your bad experience. No, you cant change the past and if you dwell on it you will become more depressed - think on this; there is no past, no future, only now. If you leave a pot on the stove with the lid on (past) of course it will boil over (present) and you will get burnt. Let it go and look at your experience as a past lesson for the future.

Even though the expereince was bad you should try to learn something from it. If you can learn one thing from this bad experience it should help in putting the experience in the past. By not learning anything from it you are destined to repeat the experience.
