I was coming out of the shower preparing to go to Anfield to watch Liverpool versus Newcastle Utd, when the phone rang and I was informed the match had been cancelled due to Diana's death. Like many people I turned on the news and watched Tony Blair's tearful response, when he famously called her the "People's Princess."

Sitting with a crowd of college buddies at a coffee house.

First, the news came across that she had be in a wreck and broke her leg. A bit later that she was somewhat more seriously injured and then, an hour or so later, that she was dead.

I woke my husband to show him the paper.

It was very weird. I was sleeping. I never kept the TV on in our bedroom after I went to bed. I certainly never even turned it to CNN. That night, my xhusband had come in and changed it to CNN after I went to sleep. He then left the room and went elsewhere, leaving the TV on. I am a very deep sleeper. I woke up when the reports started coming across on CNN. It was eerie and unreal.
