Because if we didn't it would be too easy and everyone would love for the sake of it, instead of appreciating it...

I don't see why and what we must sacrifice in love. Love is not a sacrifice, it's a gift. I mean real love. If you suppose that spending time, money or something else is sacrifice, then it's not real love, it's an unprofitable business.

We must never sacrifice. If you love truly, then you feel no sacrifice. It's just a process of giving and and taking. When you love, you care that your partner is comfortable and satisfied. Therefore you should listen and try to understand, do sometimes things that you may not necessary like but the satisfacion of making your beloved one happy, will pay you off. And ofcourse, vice- versa.
I believe is just a matter of how you perceive the relationship, how much you care and understand the one next to you.
It's just my opinion and my relative truth:-)
Cheers

It depends on what you mean by sacrificing. Do you sacrifice your honor, ethics, beliefs, who you are, for the sake of love? Do you believe that it takes two, to make a whole? Two wholes make a whole. Can you be yourself or do you need to change to please another?
Isn't it interesting, that the things that bring two people together, sometimes are what the other wants to change?
One shouldn't lose ones self for the sake of love. If I willingly "give" of myself for/to another, it is not a sacrifice. I lose nothing in the giving. Sacrifice implies a loss.

Because the nature of true love is selflessness. Any act that is selfless requires putting someone else's needs/desires before your own. That in itself is sacrificing your needs/desires of the moment. But the selfish person satisfies whatever needs/desires they have at the time without regard to the other person's needs/desires. And a relationship of love cannot exist between two selfish people. Then they would be just using each other. And that is not love.

Because it is worth it. Because sometimes sacrifice is necessary. Because if you love the person, why wouldnt you?

if it's love there is no sacrifice for it. It is something we are given as a gift. but even bigger then that, it is something we get to give as a gift. No rewards, no expectations, no rules, just something we get to give. that's it.

I kinda get what you mean, but I don't think you understand love. therefor you should not accept it, ask for it, or pretend to give it, untill you are ready for it.

It depends, would you want someone to sacrifice for your love?

To sacrifice means to give up something of greater value for something of lesser value. When we love someone, the loved one should be our highest value, so we don't really sacrifice for the ones we love.
I often hear people say that they sacrificed for their children. What did they give up that was of greater value to them than their children?
