OK I will give you MANY suggestions and go down the list until you run out.

first if you haven't done this, turn do not do anything strenuous that keeps your mind or body active because this will keep you active for awhile. Don't drink caffeine after 12pm because it will stay in you system including soda and tea. So, make sure you do something relaxing like yoga, or watch something boring. Don't spend time on here!

Next, milk doesn't do ANYTHING to help you fall asleep really it doesn't do anything at all. I'll tell you why at the end. Try something like Chamomile tea, Valerial root, Melatonin, Tylenol PM, Nytol, these are all either tea's or over the counter supplements.

You also have to get yourself on a regimen on a daily basis. Go to bed EVERY day but if you can't go to bed within 15 min get up and THEN read a book but don't start listening to music this will start making your mind too active and you will start singing along and probably dancing. So listen to something soft and relaxing, sounds of the ocean, birds, classical piano...

Take your T.V. out of your bedroom if you have it in there because this will only temp you to just turn it on and wake up your brain.

OK, again if the teas and over the counter supplements don't help don't be afraid that if you go see a doctor and take something it's bad. There many medications that are non-narcotic and non addictive medication that help get you on a routine of sleep pattern.

If you are suffering from a lot of stress this will have lot's to do with it. So find out what it is and try to resolve it otherwise try to help it out and get some sleep because it will only get worse.

Over the counter supplements

Melatonin
Valerian Root
Nytol
Chamomile Tea
Valerian Root tea

These are just a few.

Hope this give you some hope and helps. Good luck.

Oh, the reason I am letting you know this is because I have suffered from insomnia since I was around...8 years old and have started with teas, them supplements then now I am on prescription medications. I have gotten better. So just know it does get better. If you exercise make sure it is earlier in the day and not right before bed.

Keep counting the sheep cause the sheep don't have jobs now since people have been buying those Serta mattresses. Help put a sheep through college.

eat a peice of toast with peanut butter, and a glass of warm milk, then take a warm not too hot bath.
If you happen to have some Valerian tea or tincture around the house drink a small glass of that too.
try counting something else like musical notes, or counting kittens.

Drink a glass of milk then try to read a boring book. I never even last 5 minutes with a boring book.

First you need to log out of the computer... make your room dark, quiet and cool to sleep. NO television, or music on. Relax every muscle and take deep relaxing breaths.. good night.

I can totally relate!
Same time here, my friend died last month....stress (thinking, your mind working overtime) keeps me up and the worst thing I should do is distract myself w'T.V., computer. Think it out during the day so you don't deal w/it at night. Good luck!
