Tell me about it girl! My son is a lot bigger than other children his age. He's 6 months old in two days and is 19.8 lbs! But he's a happy and healthy baby so I can't complain. Its weird too cause nobody on either side of the family are big at all. Maybe it'll even out when he goes on solids and can run around to exercise it off!

I have noticed that. My son was completely breastfed until he was 6.5 months old. Since then he has gained more weight than he has been. Formula fed feeding moms look at my son and say "wow he is tiny for his age" where as breast feeding moms say "he is huge for his age." There is a difference. He is now 7 months 17.08lbs and 29 in long.

I have noticed with my little girl she is growing faster in length than what my son did (he was breast fed and later given Isomil) and she is on Similac Advance Powder. She is out growing her 0-3 month clothes especially sleepers in length but not weight, and she is only 2 months old. In the next week or so I am going to have to buy her some 3-6 month clothes which will hang on her but she has got to be able to stretch.

The main reason for this is the fat content in formula versus breastmilk. The fat in breastmilk is made for a baby to eaisly digest and pass. Also the fat level in breastmilk will drop off once the baby is closer to six months and they will naturally start growing slower. The fats in formula usually comes from cows milk and is not as easily digested and gets stored in the body and not passed and the level of fat stays the same even when they are growing slower and don't need it.

It is not bad for this fat to be stored it is just a different way of processing different foods. That is why many babies who are formula feed usually are bigger than breastfeed babies and most will even out when they get closer to two.

I breastfed exclusively and my daughter was always smaller than formula fed babies. All the kids seem to balance out as they get older. But I did notice that too!
