I have a ASUS (Info: http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=172&l1=3&l2=12&l3=29&l4=0). I recently purchased and installed a radeonX 1650 agp8 which suggests a 450W power supply, however I only have a 250-300W PSU.

When I first installed the card I had two quick power surges but after that it was fine. However after 2 hours of high end use I again had power surges. I need a stronger psu asap and I've been looking for the past couple of hours. However there are many variables that I do not understand.

Can anyone please suggest a power supply that I should instal? Thank you very much.

Your video card consumes about 45 watts mainly on the +12V rail. It could be stressing the +12V rail of your current power supply. Get a 430W or higher unit complying w/ ATX V2.2. It is efficient and should run cool. It has dual +12V rails. Perhaps something like these:

Thermaltake is one of the largest suppliers PSUs (power supply units) I would suggest this unit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153052 it has the four pin connector that you need also.
And they have a very solid rep.

Go to www.newegg.com. Thermaltake is my favorite power supply, because i have had the best luck with them. But you can browse all power supplies by wattage, price, user reviews, ect. Best of luck.
