I went on the land and sea package and stayed at a hotel at Walt Disney World. I have been reading about all of the hotels that are there now and can't figure out which one I stayed at. Have any of them changed their name or been torn down to build a new one?

I know it was a cheaper one. I don't think it was the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, or Polynesian. I think we went swimming at the Polynesian's swimming pool.We also used the Sprites. I don't remember anything fancy about the hotel, but I know it was on Disney's property and one of the choices for the land and sea package with Premier cruise lines.

It can't be the Pop Century because it opened in 2003

It looked just like a regular hotel. I don't remember anything fancy. It wasn't the Floridian, Polynesian or Contemporary. What other hotels did they have way back then that allowed you access to all the top hotels amenities?

It might be what is now called "Shades of green"...it was originally owned by Disney and called "Golf Resort" and "Disney Inn" and anyone could stay there.. then it was leased by the department of defense and it is now called "Shades of Green" and you have to be in the military to stay there. It meets your description because it has always been very plain looking and it is on Disney property.

** I am getting SO sick of this.. I answer a question correctly and one of the bozos who answered above me changes his answer to what I put!?!?! Tech_fanatic your answer DID NOT include "Shades of Green" until after I answered.. you can even tell because you original answer cut off at "Hope this helps".. is that how you get your correct answers, by stealing other peoples???

That is kind of hard to say, the only resort that has changed names was Dixi Landings, but that opened in 1992. French Quarter opened in 1991.

Caribbean Beach would be another guess, still a moderate resort, but that didn't open until 1988.

Coronado opened in 1997.

The earliest value resort was the All Star Sports, which opened in 1994.

From there it is all the deluxe resorts. Swan and Dolphin is considered to be a deluxe resort, but cost isn't quite as high and the Disney deluxe resorts, but again they didn't open until 1989 and 1990.

I would say that the monorail hotels (other than Grand Floridian since it opened in 1988) would be the most likely, but they really haven't changed since they opened, so that probably would not be it either.

My final guess would be Wilderness Campground, or perhaps you stayed in one of the Disney Village Resorts, maybe the Club Lake Villas, Treehouse Villas, Fairway Villas, etc.

Other than that I can't think of anything else. If you have any details of it at all that would help.

Hopefully I was able to help.

If it was a plain looking reasort, more than likely it was Shades of Green. They did change the name a few times (Golf Resort, and then Disney Inn before it became Shades of Green) but the only major change they made to the look of the resort was in 2004. I tend to forget about Shades of Green sometimes, probably just because of the situation with the resort, but it is very likely that could have been where you stayed.

So a rundown of the actual Disney resorts that would have been open when you took your cruise are:

Polynesian (1971)

Contemporary (1971)

Fort Wilderness Campground (1971)

The Golf Resort, AKA Disney Inn, AKA Shades of Green (1971 for the Golf Resort and 1996 for Shades of Green)

Walt Disney World Village Townhouses (1973)

Walt Disney World Village Treehouses (1975)

The remaining resorts at Disney opened in 1988 and later, so they were definitely not it. That narrows it Down to four and Wilderness Campground has not changed names or been torn down, so I would say that there are only three real possiblities.

The only one that really changes is the Pop Century one. They updated that one every so often. But there are a lot of hotels there, and it would be hard to find out which one you stayed out. Do you remember any of it?
