80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Many, upon asking themselves, answer this most important of questions with an inspirational statement or two that has applied to their own good and bad experiences in life. While many of these sayings like "be happy", "try your hardest", "never be discouraged" and so forth are ways to help make life more meaningful, they will still leave the question of life nagging indefinitely. As many words as one can say will never bring closure to the question, for the answer is not a logical conclusion that one can share with others.
The "answer" to the meaning of life can only be found within oneself, appearing through the experience of realizing the connection of the core of what makes your being with that of the universe. If you truly want to reach this understanding, you must be willing to disregard all that has come between the pure essence of your existence and the person you have become to function in the world. The door to this journey has been left closed by many more than have opened it, for the idea of making changes and seeing the world in new ways is frightening for those who have made themselves comfortable in their place. When these people are asked your question they will give you a quick and unsatisfying answer.
Try to isolate the feeling that led you to ask your question in the first place and discover where it came from. Only you can find your own way to the one answer.

No offense, but does it matter? Why waste your time ponderin what is unanswerable? Trust me, I've tried. I spent seven hours straight in one day (not counting the other days i thought about it.)
and what have I come up with? Two things:

1. Life has no meaning and is merely coincidence (as is posted above).

and

2. Life's meaning is what ever you make it.
Your life is your life. And the meaning is what your life centers around.

Personally, I like the second because it sounds nice and it makes you seem like you're in control of your life. But really, you're not.

We provide God the opportunity to experience physical embodiment. Every possible scenario, good or bad, will be played out in reality. We are the medium on which He paints the picture. A living piece of divine artwork.
God being omnipotent and omniscient... knows all, sees all, etc. Yet he lacks a physical existence. We are that existence for him. He in turn provides us the opportunity to experience spirituality, both in this life and the hereafter.

Life is a rehearsal for a play that may never open. To be certain about such things as the existence of a supreme being one need be so filled with conceit that it sours into a kind of self-hatred.

To wake up and live it to the fullest and deal with whatever comes your way. Never give up. That's the whole meaning. I swear to it. It's not always going to be happy, but there will be good times. Live each moment as it comes, plan, but be flexible as sometimes, you have to have a plan b or c or d and think quick on your feet.

But above all...Live.

The meaning of life is summed up by Jesus: Love one another as I have loved you. If we used this kind of thinking we will not hate,..race,orgin,beliefs will not matter.
