That's a good question, I'd like to know the answer to that. I'm assuming it can. 64 vs 32 just means how long the computers words are. I can see a problem occuring if someone wrote a program on a 64 and then tried to run it on a 32 since the operands/opcodes would be in the wrong places since they use different ISA's most likely.

yes they can - the processors - operating systems - applications and data are all separate things - and it is only the data you want to migrate between machines. Web pages are hosted on 32 bit linux machines yet the pages can be viewed on 64 bit windows machines
