That is a famous quote loaded with wisdom. When we put things off until later, we often regret it because we end up with less time than we thought.
Do it as soon as you can and get it out of the way.

What is the assignment?
Generally, the point of summer homework is to keep your mind sharp while not in school, so it would probably be best to work on it over the course of your break.
I wouldn't procrastinate. Who wants to spend the last week of summer break stressing out over an assignment?

It is better to get it out of the way when you are still in school mode. The longer you leave it the more you will come to dread doing it. Besides, say something awesome happens and then you don't have to go home and do your homework you can stay longer!

get it done now so you do not have to worry about it later. Never put things off or you forget to do it and then pay for it

do a little each week so it still stays fresh in your mind and you won't be rushing through it at the end.
