How much work is involved in being a humanities minor? I want to major in history and minor in humanities but I need to know how much time I should save for each one. I was going to double major but figured that I would get enough out of two, so I will just focus on one. I also want to go to med school.

Also, is it a good idea to major in History while minoring in Humanities? Or are they pretty much the same thing? I want to minor and major in two completely different subjects as long as it's not science. I plan on going to med school, therefore please no science.

History (no matter what anyone else tells you on this site) IS considered part of humanities. Humanities are fields that examine the human condition and include history, sociology, anthropology, languages, philosophy, and natural and social sciences. (I have been a university lecturer of applied linguistics and English for the last decade or so and I know what the humanities are)

If your plan is to attend medical school afterward, you really must consider a science major as most of the better medical schools aren't going to give your application much consideration without a good foundation in science and at the least a BS and not a BA.

You could always minor in history. Just a thought. In any case, good luck!

I'm going to be straight up with you....Humanities is not an area that is going to get you far especially if you major in history and minor in humanities. However, do not give up.....Humanities are found in many areas of college curicculums....try lookin for another major and minor that incorporate your passion in them. And no, humanities is not related to history; History is histroy. There are many divisions of humanities like Sociology, Psychology, Therapy, Criminal Justice, Polical Science, Speech pathology, Social work.
