Welll, the administaration made up a lot of excuses to mask their real reason, such as WMD's, and to establish a democracy in iraq.
Bush said because of WMD's, he knew there were none, but told us anyway. At the same time, Kin Jong Il said that he HAD WMD's, and would not hesitate to use them. So, we invade the guy who we think has em, but we negotiate with the guy who we know has em. Doesn't make sense to me. Establish a democracy. Incase you have not noticed, it is very hard to completely shut out a government, and put a new one in. Bush had his own reasons, and he does not care about what the American people want or need, he only cares about what he wants.
He thought it was going to be a cakewalk. But so many people told him that a country like iraq is ripe for civil war, chaos, and corruption. He did not listen. It was not in the American peoples best interest to invade Iraq, it was in their best interest to invade afghanistan and finish the job there. Now, Bin laden is gone, and we have problems in both countries that we need to solve.
Also, it is not doing any significant damage to terorism, and is actually spreading terorism.. It is strengthening teror supporting countries like iran every day more and more, at a time when they need to be weakened. This war has done the opposite of everything it was suppost to do.
Now, kids are crying because there mother or father did not come home from the war that is accomplishing nothing in keeping the american people safer.
Okay, you know, i understand they wabted to free iraq, but why didn't we do one thing at a time(Afganistan, bin laden, THEN iraq). And we were never given authrization to be the worlds police force. Doing that causes more problems than it solves, and just results in more american deaths for no reason. Lets worry about our flaws before we worrynabout another nation.

Terri R - Actually Daddy advised against it. Mommy was insistent on it from the first day he took office.
To try to show his daddy that he was a "man" who could take care of Saddam. Because Cheney and Bush's mother encouraged him to. So, he faked the evidence and lied his way into getting the support he needed. He squashed dissent by calling dissenters "traitors and unAmerican". It was a very successful tragedy thought up by Karl Rove. Now here we are in an illegal, immoral war with people dying every day. The worst part hasn't happened yet. That will be when the Iraqi people come over here and enact revenge upon the US for the evil deeds of Bush.
Oh, and the $15,000,000 worth of oil missing PER DAY in Iraq, according to our GAO.

Not because of 9/11 or weapons of mass destruction. The reasons are complex but boil down to neo-con belief that US interests would be best served by regime change in Iraq, Syria and Iran, and secondly to gain effective control of Iraq's vast oil and gas reserves so as to undercut the OPEC cartel and also pay for the war and the occupation. Suggest you read the books by Bob Woodward and Greg Palast. Of course, it didn't work but then no neo-con notions do.

Two reasons - oil and Haliburton (**** Cheeney's company). They are still paying him hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and get all those no bid contracts in Iraq, even though they keep ripping off taxpayers big time.

actually TERRI, GW's DAddy said NOT to. He didn't go into Bagdad when there were 500,000 troops there because he KNEW what would happen. Dubia didn't listen (again) and has stepped into a hornets nest.

To go and finish what Clinton didn't do. You saw that they captured Sadam Hussein the dictator. You saw how many innocent people were found in mass graves and buildings. And you see that our troops are fighting terrorists and they will continue until the job gets done. The US invaded Iraq for our Freedom, so we can live without terrorism in our country and the Iraqi government can rule once again, but without the crooked leaders they once had. The US is there to also keep the Iraqi people safe from terrorists. Plus, our troops are there because that's their job.
