I understand that they put on a lot but what steps do I take? Eyes? Face? Lips? etc.

And the hair, how's the beehive done? I like how Julie Christie did hers in "Fahrenheit 451" as Montag's wife.

If you can go to the library and look up on 60's fashions, I'm sure you can look at the pictures and play with your eyes and make-up on your face to make it look retro.

Beehives: I'm sure this website would help you

Well you're in luck cuz just yesterday I went 2 the advance screening of HAIRSPRAY and everyone loved it!
1) Eyeliner with a curl at the end but it has 2 be visible (but not half-way on your face)

2) LIGHT shade of lipstick and definitely keep applying lip gloss not 2 much though and don't go 2 frosty on the lipstick otherwise you'll look like a dork.

3)Not sure how 2 do a beehive but the flip was a classic and if you have bangs even better! If ya do the flip just use a good curling iron on the ends and CURL OUT. Then if ya have bangs CURL UNDER believe it or not some curl bangs COMPLETELY out! And wear a headband.Don't forget the puff at the top cuz it's all about volume here and hairspray.

6)Jewelry. Chunky bead earrings and smallest 2 largest bead necklace.

TRUST ME IT WAS A HIT! Also for fashion 60's look at pics of Twiggy and look up hairstyles in 60's and how 2 create em.

Twiggy. Great model to go off of. She has a wonderous 60's look.

Face: Use a moisturizer and also a concieler and foundation. You want your skin absolutely flawless!

Eyes: I would say no eyeshadow or a pale.
If at night, use a black and cover the bottom half of your lid.

Use a black eyeliner pencil/twist up pencil and do a wing on both sides of your eye. (Start at outside of eye on top lashes nearest to the lash line as possible pull out and swing up) Then, thickly line the top of your eyes.

Use black mascara on the top and bottom, and LOTS of it. Usually your not suppose to let coats dry in between, but do 4 coats and let each coat dry before you apply the next. This will REALLY define your top and bottom lashes.

Lips: Use either a pale pink or a nude-pink. You want all the attention to your eyes. Don't use a glitter gloss or anything. Lipstick only!

For your hair, tease the back at the roots by back combing it. This will take a lot of practice. To make it easier, have a can of hairspray, extremely dry hair, and a very packed-toothed comb.

Good luck with your look! This should help a lot.

How to acquire the perfect beehive:

Necessary accoutrements:

1. Dirty hair (clean hair does not tease well): The product and grease buildup of day-old hair gives the beehive body and fullness. If you absolutely must wash your hair, slather on a big gooey glop of hair gel to give hair artificial gunk and stiffness.
2. Rattail comb/brush: this comb/brush features bristles of differing lengths to mat the hair into a clumpy mass, along with a skinny pointed end that allows you to lift and shape the hair from the inside out.
3. A package of bobby pins (and be advised: they will be so encrusted with gunk and hairspray they might not be reusable).
4. An entire can of ultra-hold hairspray (Aqua Net is the reigning queen, but any kind will do).

How to style your behemoth beehive:

1. Take your dirty or gunked up hair, and systematically tease individual sections, starting from the roots outward until each section is a big matted mass of hair. (For those born after 1980, teasing is the process of brushing the hair back onto itself to create a tangled hairmass).
2. Once the entire head is teased, smooth the clumps together to form a tower. (Think Bride of Frankenstein). Gently smooth the top layers to create the illusion of silky hair, shaping the hair into a spiral direction. The actual cone is shaped to your preference. Some like it high and tube-like (Marge Simpson) and others prefer the chic French twist with separate curls (Flo).
3. Once the top layers are formed, you will need to bobby pin the cone shape so that it stays intact.
4. Apply a very liberal amount of hairspray to the entire do to encase it in an impenetrable tower of plastic.
5. Grab the go-go boots, the daisy embroidered chiffon swing dress, a mouthful of bubble gum...and you're ready to roll.

1960s Makeup Styles and Cosmetics
Unlike the too-natural Hippie look, the early Natural Look was anything but. Heavy foundation makeup (called "translucent"), masked the complexion, which might then be brightened by a mod pink blush. Many cosmetics designers decided to forego blush entirely, settling on a matte, slightly tanned look for foundations, and playing up the eyes. Lips were left nude, covered with foundation, or in shimmering, titanium-based lipsticks in shades so pale they made models into anemic aliens. Pale, silvery lips and a broad expanse of colorless face put focus on the eyes. Mascara was vital to the look; preferably so thickly applied that the lashes clumped together in spikes like false eyelashes. False eyelashes were also in vogue, and many women put mascara on top of them. Eye makeup was harsh: eyeliner all the way around the eye; eye shadow up to the browbone, even in daytime. Big, dramatic eyes were the ultimate fashion ploy.

This retro version of the updo is sleek and sophisticated. It is the perfect accessory for an elegant prom dress or stunning wedding gown.

The style shown here is the traditional smooth and sleek beehive. It is easiest to create with shoulder length hair that is all one length but also works in hair with a few layers.

Use body building shampoo and conditioner for easier handling.

Towel blot your hair and apply firm hold styling foam or styling gel. Start applying it at the root area and extend it out to the ends.

Blow your hair dry creating as much body as possible.

When your hair is thoroughly dry, spray it lightly with flexible hold hair spray. This will give you more control when working with it.

It may be helpful to set your hair on large hot rollers for extra body but is not always necessary.

Divide your hair in two sections from ear to ear across the top of your head. Clip the front section to keep it out of the way.

Brush the back section into a high French twist, pulling the ends to the crown of your head. Slide large bobby pins down through the fold of the twist attaching it firmly to the back of your head. Spray it with hairspray. Look here for help in creating a French twist.

.Form a low side part in the front section. Brush the light side back into the French twist and pin with bobby pins.

Brush the heavy side from the side part, across your forehead and sweep it around the twist. Swirl the ends into a puff at the top of the twist. This can be made by curling the ends around in a small circle and pinning the ends underneath.

Finish your style by smoothing any loose ends or fly-aways that you find. Spray with firm-hold hairspray.

End notes:
If your hair is very fine or is layered, tease it lightly all over. Spray it with flexible hold hairspray and lightly smooth it into the style.
