Frankly most people think a woman's worth is based on whether or not she has a man. When I got divorced, my married female friends slowly disappeared. I was no longer suitable company and then there was that fear I would go after their husband. Pleeeze. I guess they weren't friends after all. I also had a friend whose husband died very young, She was a stay at home mom with no financial ideas and no job training. Her minister advised her it would be wrong to accept the insurance even tho' she had kids that needed to go to college and no job prospects. She moved back home with her parents. It is the responsibility of every woman to be able to take over in her husband's stead in every aspect. Just ask my sister; her husband was diagnosed with a very bad heart in his thirties. She worked and he was Mr. Mom until he passed away a few years ago. Luckily my sister was able to switch places and responsibilities.

Well, it's a pretty sh*tty double standard when she is a good little wifey who stays at home and takes care of the house and family and her man and lets him be the bread winner and support her just like society expects, and then the reward she gets is getting her benefits cut in half when the man she spent her life standing beside passes.
