As much as I would like to deny it, Kobe Bryant probably is the most hated athlete in basketball. He is probably the best in the league based on overall skills, but he comes off as arrogant and pompous. I am a Lakers fan and is a big fan of Kobe but I can see how he can be the most hated player out there.

Look several decades back for dirty players. Almost every pro-player in the 40's,50's and early 60's play rough even such esteemed figures such as Bob Cousy and Bill Russell.

For my money though, the dirtiest would be Clyde "The Great White Whale" Lovellete. He is the Seven foot, 290 pound monster who shoved Wilt Chamberlain's lower teeth several centimeters into his upper jaw. Wilt, "the greatest athletic construction made of flesh and blood according to Sports Illustrated", almost died because of the resulting infection. According to reports, this seemingly ordinary injury also played a role on his deteriorating health in later years and ultimately his death.

The most hated figure in the NBA though is not a player but a coach and later general manager. Red Auerbach brawls with team owners, brawls with players from the opposing teams, brawls with fans watching from the stands. Artest and Spreewell are lightweights compared to this man. He threatens refs with physical abuse and showers them with verbal abuse, and of course there is the Victory Cigar, the ultimate symbol of the man's arrogance.

And the man is one of the greatest if not THE greatest coach in NBA history. Coaches of the Year receive the Arnold "Red" Auerbach Trophy.

For real, it has to be Kobe bryant. One of the main reasons is because of his supposed rap of that like 19 year old lady a couple years back. Then he is raw on top of that, cant no one guard him. He has to be the most hated ball player.

i does not subject approximately it. I wasn't an athlete at school because of the fact the two one among my mum and dad worked 2d shift in a production unit and that i had a sitter so i did not have somebody to take me to and from practices. i in my opinion did not dislike "jocks". I by no ability relatively cateorgized people who way. I enjoyed people who have been severe high quality and exciting to be with. I had a large style of pals and became happy that way. i don't think of "jocks" are dumb anymore than i think of "emo" teenagers are extraordinary or "geeks/nerds" are all relatively clever. i attempt to discover the acceptable in anybody and attempt to forget the undesirable. i know people would desire to try this with me in some cases too! :o)
