I am fed up with American washers

Have you ever used a Japanese washer, or are you extrapolating from cars?

The traditional Japanese washer is a right pain in the butt, and I'm not very fond of the modern Japanese washers, either. Too much fuzzy technology, hard to hook up the hot water, and if you get the buttons wet, sometimes they short out. I imported an American washer, and it seems to get the job done.

Try Consumer Reports, and see which washers are best. You may have to pay more, but if you are willing to buy an imported washer, it sounds like you've got the bucks!

Man, I lived in Japan (Okinanwa) for a while recently. They really have some junky appliances over there. Most Japanese would love to have the durability of an American made appliance. Try a different brand, but be careful because there are really only two or three manufacturers out there. (Most are the same, just sold under different names). Don't give up on USA made stuff, your kids will appreciate the stronger economy when they're older and can find a job.

American made washers are probably the best you could buy anywhere. Why would anyone know where they sell a Japanese washer, this is asinine. If you don't like American, leave, go to Japan and live here.

Madame and cowboy are correct, except consumer reports are garbage and even if they were not, they would have no information on Jap appliances. There are no parts available when it breaks down. All the new appliances are designed for short life, unfortunately, but just avoid the ones that have electronic panels in them. The simpler, the better and if you are just a little handy, most things you can fix yourself by going to http://appliancequickfix.com/
