I have looked up some external hard drives online. The best one i've seen is the 250 gb hard drive my book by western digital, but i have a friend who has that and does not like it. can someone recommend me a model?
I am looking for:
250 GB
USB 2.0 unless there is a cheap one with Firewire? Thanks

Why dont he like it? Im not a fan of external cause the transfer rates are slower then internal. But Western Digital is a good HD company. Try Seagate.

I would personally recommend that you get a USB 2.0 / Firewire hard drive encloser. Then you can buy any hard drive and plug it in. You'll have to pay a little more money overall, but then you'll be able to upgrade the hard drive cheaper in the future.

Is this for a laptop? If it is for a desktop I would greatly sugest and internal HDD. USB is just too slow for any real work like that. In my opinion. I can't really suggest one though I will say stay away from Maxtor. I have seen nothing but problems with there ecternal hdd.

if you know how to use Western Digital. it is considerably one of the best hard drive out there. you got a back-up storage program that most other manufacture doesn't have. plus it is most widely used PnP(plug and play) for windows.
