Yes, you need to read a lot of bad advise before you find some good ones. Do not give up. Find someone who you like the advice of and then check out their other answers. It really lets you know their personality.

I used to have another yahoo account but let it go, and I am just back. I would sometimes give a flip or stupid answer to a really stupid question, but most of the time I tried to be helpful. I did allow emails, but some people would just email me and email me to the point I edited my profile where it wouldn't be allowed. I had one guy I was trying to help with a girlfriend problem and with everything I suggested he would come up with some other reason why it wouldn't work. He emailed me 4 times and I tried to help and it just exhausted me. I think a lot of people do try to give help, I know I got some help in maintenance and repairs in fixing some things around the house.

About half the people on Amswers don't have the time or the inclination to give thoughtful and useful answers. Another quarter are either just idiots or just people out to waste time and have a laugh at other people's expense. The remaining few actually want t help if they can and get help if possible. I suppose since you've noticed the idiotic answers, you've also noticed idiotic questions, and don't forget the questions that are just statements that don't require or invite comments.

I have no clue, and honestly it bothers me a lot. I like going on this website because I like helping people and hearing about the situations that people are dealing with. It's good practice for when I debate with someone. Also I want to study to be a councilor of some type when I go to collage, and until then this and helping my friends is the extent of people I can help.
It really annoys me to see people being so immature and wasting a good source such as this for pointless jokes and questions that'll be deleted two minutes later.

Ok, you're the second question that I ever answered, and I totally agree with you. I personally think that people just don't care and they probably do just want the points(I'm not sure what the points even do. could you explain it?), but this day and age, people don't really care about anyone but themselves. and just so you know, anyone can ask me anything on my email or through this, and I will try my hardest and best to answer it honestly. Please feel free to ask anything.

I totally agree with you. Personally I don't answer a question unless it makes some kind of sense to me and I am serious about what I am saying in my answers. Otherwise you are just wasting time.

You're absolutely correct. I don't hide my e-mail adress. If someone wants to give me their 2 cents worth of opinion, critisize me or even if they want to challenge me to a debate. They can do so. People don't give satisfactory answers. Because, they're too lazy, don't understand the question, aren't willing to do any research to help answer the question or just don't give a damn to help someone.

It's what I call the weenie factor. There are those flippant and just plain stupid people, that hide in anonymity. They wouldn't have the guts to do so in real life so they do it here and prove they are truly just little weenies at heart. And they know who they are, they just don't realize we know who they are too.

the Y/A system is not set up right. Limits on answering promote power leveling, giving little one line answers and moving on to the next one. The report flag absolutely kills all of our good contributors and after being on the 5th or higher profile, it just dosen't matter so much anymore.

I agree. People are wasting their time and other peoples time and it's not entertaining to me to see answers that are rude, disrespectful, or like you mentioned, to get points. Why are points so important. Speaking for myself, I can get great info from people, opinions, and help if needed. Good question and a good rant issue.
