The rest of the world hates us

There's a lot of great things about being an American, but there are some down sides:

1. You are expected to really care about celebrities and sports, and not be interested in the world outside of the US.

2. You are expected to buy a lot of useless things, and conform to popular trends.

3. You are not allowed to think for a moment that there's anything to criticize about your country.

4. You will find Americans do not treat their old or infirm very kindly, and don't like to be reminded about this.

5. You have to put up with a rather rotten and self serving government, and a lot of invasion of privacy from both that government and big business.

That said, a lot of these things are true about other countries. America is still a great place, and if you love it, and you find things wrong with it, you should work to change it.

Because we're perceived as a "Christian" nation even though we are far from it - simply because we carry some values and standards - we are targets for terrorist attacks. It's negative to be an American because there are so many people who want to point nuclear weapons our way and do not care about the cost to themselves or humanity as a whole in pushing that button. It's negative because who doesn't live here with the constant feeling of being a sitting duck and waiting for the next suprise terrorist attack to come and wondering if it will kill you and your family next. It's also negative to live here because there are so many negative things happening and they only seem to get worse. People are becoming more and more evil and less prone to do good things in life. Then again - is there really a country who doesn't share these negativities more or less? On the whole - I'd rather be here than anywhere else. I'm not complaining that's for sure.

There is nothing negative about being an American. We should consider ourselves very lucky to be Americans. After all we live in one of the greatest nations in the world.

Paying taxes, the high cost of a college education, having athletes who make millions to play games (they get way more than the men & women who are fighting for our safety and our freedom), that just doesn't seem right.
I also think it's outrageous that every American does not have health care coverage.

None............lots of people will say lots of bad stuff about Americans, but I don't agree. Being an American makes me very proud and honored to be part of USA.
That we have junky Presidents is not our fault. Presidents from other Countries are the same or worse............at least we have had wonderful Presidents, that's why USA is like it is.
And if people say negative things about an American.......is simply because he/she wishes to be an American citizen.

modern day Americans tend to forget how and why we got here. That scares me. we have always been diversified, but would stand our ground together as Americans for the common good. It dosent feel like a team anymore. Devide and conquer. It scares me. Hmmm. Thats odd why after 3 attempt wont this awnser post?

How can we say anything negative about America with all the sacrifices that our service
people are experiencing in this war. That would be such a disgrace to our country. Freedom isn't free you know. But of course you already knew that. Thank You to all the military families in America.God Bless.
