The 1965 version of "The Sound of Music," starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, most def!!!
It's a classic, the songs are beautiful and actually have a point, the acting is actually well done (because sometimes in musicals the singers can't act or the actors can't sing and that's always a drag), the plot is really good, and the transitions into musical numbers are smooth and not awkward like they can be.

The tour bus scene in Almost Famous, where they all sing Tiny Dancer, and the tension is erased. Also, it's not a movie, but in the tv series, My So Called Life, there is a great scene, where the guy finally doesn't care if everybody knows he's in love with the girl, and the song is Late at Night, by Buffalo Tom. I can play that scene over and over in my head. I love it, and the song.

Two movies:
Moulin Rouge - because it took pop music and made it classy and made a good story even better.
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut - because it proved that even crude humor can have some Oscar-worthy music to help carry the story.

Singing In The Rain. Or a guilty pleasure is the really cheesy Xanadu. I also like Simply Ballroom. I love musicals!

high school musical i guess. i like it 'cause it has to do with trying new things no matter what anyone thinks or says. it has to do with modern problems so we could relate to them.
