before the internet or pc,before semiauto's and crack before cellphones,CD's,DVD's,voicemail was when mom stood on the porch and yelled for you to come home, playing kickball, dodge ball, redlight green light hide and seek until dark,or until the first....nosecond...no third street light came on,bed time prayers and good night kisses, ice cream from the good humor truck a million mosquitoe bites and sticky fingers and then being tired from playing, laughing so hard your stomach hurt,ah your first crush, your first kiss(when your mouth was closed and your eyes were open, koolaid was the drink of the summer,or a swig from the hose, giving friends a ride on your handle bars, new shoes on the first day of school, when getting in trouble at school was nothing compared to the trouble waitting at home,a quarter was a fair allowance, catching polywogs, triple dog dares, being tall enough to ride the big peoples rides was a BIG deal spinning around getting dizzy and falling down made you laugh, just wonderin

wow, that made me smile. =D well - right now,i have 7 mosquito bites,i drank from the hose yesterday afternoon while i was watering my plants and dogs, and i have 2 gallons of kool aid in the fridge. so i still keep it real so to say hehe

as for the other,i was the kickball queen =) all the boys wanted to be my boyfriend cause i could kick as far as them if not farther ♥ first crush first kiss awwwwwwweeeee.

very good question. i hope when i have children i can keep a bit of that in their lives,i refuse to have techie kids who don't go outside to play...learning technology is good, but sunshine is better.

Just some of that mystery 2 we are from different countries but the same really remember sitting on the handle bars & laying on the neighbours lawn at dusk being told legendary stories about so called bunyips & never having to lock our doors those were truly the good old days *sigh *
never to be again repeated :)

Yes to all, thanks for the trip back to the fifties! Add to that wax coke bottles, Captain Kangaroo, making a skateboard out of a broken rollerskate and a 2x4. Laying on your back and watching the clouds go by. Walking to school. Playing touch football in the street. Listening to 45's, memorizing every song, every person in the band... because it was important!

Sure do. And am SO thankful to at least have memories like this to ponder over when I see what a cesspool the world has become and how kids today haven't got a clue on what real fun is. It's amazing how all that got lost.

WOW! Those days really existed?!? How long ago?!? (I probably wasn't even alive for that, lol.) Incidentally, wow you people were simple..... And yet I envy you for some reason. My neighborhood is pretty safe, but all of my friends lived in crappy neighborhoods, so I couldn't even stay out past 4 or 5 o'clock when I was younger..... You have given me something to think about..... =/?

Sounds like my childhood. I grew up in a rural area, and cable didn't even exist there yet. No such thing as computers or Atari. We had to use our imagination and play outside. I'm forcing that on my kids now! LOL
