I think scary looking beats intelligence in the fear department.

I am more afraid of someone very highly intelligent that makes me feel not so bright. Scary people usually are just that - scary people - IMO most are not dangerous. But someone who has it way over you in the intelligence dept. could be much more scary, as a friend, a relative, a co-worker, a boss. Especially if they aren't very nice to begin with.
