I've been thinking about moving to Seattle, Washington.I know coffee is very popular in Seattle but i'm not a fan of it. I've never liked coffee. Would i fit in if i don't drink coffee or is it pretty standard that everyone in the whole city drinks it?

Additionally, there is an entire menu of things that you can get to drink at an espresso bar that don't have coffee in them. Among the things that are available at many coffee/espresso bars:

Tea
Chai
Italian Sodas
Hot Cocoa
steamed milk with flavor shot added
bottled water, juice, and other drinks.

So as long as you can stand the smell of roasted coffee, step into one of these coffee shops anyway, order yourself a drink and join us! Nobody will care whether your drink has coffee in it or not.

Seattle is often talked about as the Coffee Capital and all, Starbucks, SBC, etc.... but you'd be surprised at how many people don't drink coffee here. Granted, you'll be surprised also by how many do, but you'll be thanking yourself for not when you see the lines at the Starbucks that have drive-thru windows. You'd think it was the only way coffee was served, the way those lines will get backed up at some of the windows.

Perhaps a healthy dose of Microsoft or Amazon might fit you better? Don't worry, you'll fit in just fine. Just get used to going to grab a coffee with your friends when they go to get some!

Actually if you don't maintain a .008 level of caffeine in your blood at all times - you will be executed! ;)

A lot of people here don't drink coffee. It's not a requirement. It's not like you're in the UK and shops close down for 4 o'clock tea. And no one will shun you if you're not drinking coffee. Well, they might... but you'll get over it lol

I moved here four years ago from South Florida and absolutely LOVE it here. Come to Seattle - it's a wonderful place to live - java junkie or not!

You must drink coffee to survive in Seattle. By the way - Tullys have the best Sour Cream Walnut Coffee Cake - fit to die for.

I've lived here on and off for 17 years and I've never had a cup of coffee in my life. I think coffee is so ubiquitous that non-drinkers are considered a little bit weird everywhere... but not more here than anywhere else.

You should be fine if you don't drink Coffee. Many of us who are Actually from here, and have not moved here from other areas get by just fine without coffee.

People drink what they want. No, you're not going to be considered a social moron if you don't drink coffee. Many people here honestly think that coffee is overrated.
I like tea more myself.

You can still fit in if you don't drink coffee.

Its not that big a deal. Its not like alcohol or cigarettes.

But don't be surprised if you acquire a taste for it.
